Mt Edgcumbe <1>
Tuesday June 16th 1840 –
My dear Henry
I ought to have told you before that your Arabian nights and Photographs <2> arrived quite safe – only I was waiting till I had time to write plus au long than I have tonight – The latter are beautiful – I have not yet selected those for Mr Condy, <3> as I want to give him good specimens, & yet wish to keep the best for myself. – Mamma <4> seems to think we ought to be coming to town – so we are soon I believe – but not for the drawingroom & Ball on the 22nd that is impossible – it is really very awkward – being appointed suddenly & expected to come to town when one has no pied à terre, <5> at so short a notice, as if one had known all all about it beforehand –
