My dear Henry

I am so very sorry I did not see you today. Please come tomorrow on my return from the Drawg Room, when we can talk about Laycock & you will have the advantage of seeing me in full fig – about ½ past 3, or from that to 4. If I do pay you a visit on my way home I am afraid I can only stay a day – which will be better than nothing. But I had visions of proposing a visit a little later in the year with Ernestine, <1> if it could be managed. Do please come tomorrow. In the evg – we are going to a full-dress party at Lansde House <2> in honour of the Queen’s Birthday. <3>

Jane <4> goes to Lanelay <5> tomorrow with Kate <6> – but the others remain here. I wish you wd let me know where you are lodging –

Yr affte very sleepy
Caroline
