C. sends Matilda <1> a kiss for her letter wh was very nice. We are thinking of going but have not quite settled what day nor which way – possibly the [Ilnena?] road maybe more agreeable than by Civitavecchia – If you will write a line you had better enclose to Mr Bean who will send it after us. Jane <2> is still here but going I believe in a day or two. – All is quiet here – the French are gone again – it is a very stupid business –

Yrs affly
Caroline

I suppose we shall go by the next Steamer

Via di mare Inghilterra
Henry Fox Talbot Esqre
Laycock Abbey
Chippenham
Angleterre
