Farrance’s Hotel <1>
Friday June 7th

My dear Henry

When are you coming to see us? I am going at 5 o’clock to the House of Lords, as a debate is anticipated on the Budget. If it is not long we shall be home early. Could you not come in the evening, & see Lord Mt E. <2> even if I am not returned – tho’ I think I shall be. About ½ past 9 or ten.

By-the-bye I had nearly forgotten to tell you that Dr Bence Jones <3> said there was a most interesting lecture this evening at the Rl Institution, <4> on the new discoveries in light &c. I forget the name of the Lecturer (not Fariday <5> [sic]) but he said it would be the lecture of the year. Dr Jones is, I think, Secretary this year. So you had better go there tonight – & come & lunch here at two o’clock tomorrow, Will you? or come tomorrow evg.

Yr affte
Caroline
