My dear Henry
I am very glad to hear that I shall get a glimpse of you before I leave Town – I am not naturally going till abt the 1st of Augusut [sic] – but I have just had a Summons to take Lady Caledon’s <1> Waiting at Osborne <2> on the 18th inst for 10 days – Whether I shall do this or not, depends upon whether Val <3> can receive Ernestine <4> during my absence – This point is not yet settled – but if I do go I shall hope to see you on Wednesday –
Please thank Constance <5> for her letter, & say I received the P.O. order all right, & had it cashed – I am glad the little cards were approved of.
We are going this afternoon to Lord’s Cricket Ground, to see the end of the match between Eton & Harrow. Some Etonians we saw yesterday were very uppish because they scored 134 at the end of the first Innings – but I see by the Times that Harrow stopped in the evening with only 3 wickets down, having scored 176! We are going to wear the Harrow colours – dark blue –
Love to all –
Yr affte Sister
Caroline
