Cotehele House <1>
Feby 22nd 1868

My dear Henry

I do not know whether you are at Lacock or no – but risk this just to know if you heard that poor dear Sir Charles Lemon <2> died last week?

I have no doubt you have heard it if you are at home. I wrote to his niece Mrs Boscawen <3> who was staying with him – & she wrote me a very nice letter in return. His illness was very short – from cold – & he died quite peacefully – watched over by Mrs Boscawen, & her Brother Col Tremayne, who he made his heir.

I believe we leave this on Thursday next, (if I can make ready,) for Mt E. for a day or two, en route to London & Cannes. Write to me here or at Mt E –

Yr affte Sister
Caroline
