My dear Henry

I enclose a letter from Vicky which I think you will like to see.

I had written beforehand to tell her of the eclipse. This was fortunate – as she & her sisters, (who are now at Clifton for change of air,) seem to be the only people I know of, hav who were lucky enough to see it.

Vicky is beginning to have a great taste for all sorts of things.

Pray tell me if you saw the Moon at all.

I also send a letter from Theresa Nicholl <2> – It is a comfort that dear Jane <3> does not suffer – but it must be dreadfully sad to see her in that unconscious state. Please return both letters when done with.

We have dreadfully wet weather – & all the flowers gone – tho’ plenty of leaves left still.

Love to Constance. <4>

I received Rosamond’s <5> chickens all right yesterday.

Yr affte Sister
Caroline
