Castleford, <1>
19th June 1816.

My Dear Mamma,

I arrived here yesterday afternoon. We had fine weather for travelling, but met with no adventures; except that a woman asked me “Pray sir, are we in Cambric Shire?” Mr Gordon, one of Mr Barnes’s <2> former pupils is here during the College vacations; and I am very much annoyed & disappointed to learn that Nuttall is only gone home for his Holidays, & will stay on till Christmas – My Garden looks pretty well. – covered with weeds &c. &c. but tho’ some of my flowers are dead or nearly so, some others are in blossom & very pretty.

I remain, Yr Affte Son,
W. H. F. Talbot.

Lady Elisabeth Feilding
31 Sackville Street
London
