Harrow <1>
May 9th 1813
My dear Mamma,
I had quite forgot having ever written those verses which you sent me; but they were not what I meant – My mock tragedy <2> begins; “how Phoebus’ rays in their meridian height”. I have written to Jane, <3> and described the lecture on Galvanism; – I wish you could send me, that little paper full, of the pink topped matches; it is laying about in your dressing room, or else in the black trunk – The weather has been, and is now so extremely hot, that I have left off my flannel waistcoat this morning, and begin to wish for my summer clothes – I wish you to answer my question, whether I may not have my new study fitted up with chairs & table; as soon as possible, for I cannot leave my present study, till the other is fitted up, and a boy who has no study at present, is waiting till I leave mine, when he will obtain it –
