Derry Hill Chipp Calne
Decr 17. 1839.
Dear Sir,
Tho the Derry Hill National School has done much more this year than last year in the way of self support it is still obliged to beg & the Manager, the beggar must be I therefore venture to apply to you, as a Landowner in the District in the hope that this year you will allow yourself to be enrolled among the subscribers & thus to be one of the helpers of our poorer neighbours here, to preserve for their children the means of good education I shall hope soon to send you a Dt & Cr account of the School Income & Expenditure for this year but I shall hope before that time that you will enable me, more nearly than at present I can, to balance the Account.
I remain Yours very truly
Henry M. Fletcher.
