Dear Sir
I have read with much interest your letter about your new discoveries to transfer Drawings & Pictures to Steel Plates. – I am engaged in the publication of D. Maclise’s history of the Norman conquest which was Exhibited at the Royal Accademy [sic] last year – the work consist [sic] in 44 Black Lead pencil drawings of the Size of about 24 inches by 7 & I wish to have them all reproduced upon steel or copper by the process you have discovered & it strikes me that this discovery is specialy [sic] adapted to the translation of Maclises Drawings which I have in vain attempted since 18 months to get Satisfactorily Engraved in line – would you try one? I can send you one of the drawings directly & could you recommend me a proper person to execute the work you so ably describe –
I remain faithfly yrs
