I am most pleased to learn, Sir, of your arrival in Paris. You will find me at the Luxembourg today, tomorrow and the following day, from noon until the evening. I would have avoided having you make this journey if my occupations allowed me to give you prior warning of the time when I could make it to your place. My uncertainty in this respect obliges me to accept your kind proposal. The samples you sent me from Rome have reached their destination, I was very pleased with them & I thank you a thousand times over.
