Dear Sir,

I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 30th July on the subject of the return for your taxes. This has now all been put right, and you will not be troubled again this year. But we are informed the rules of the office require that a printed schedule be left annually at your house both for the assessed & Income taxes which should be returned with a Statement that the return for every thing has been made in England. Were your servant to hand in the Schedules to us we could fill up this & save you any trouble in time coming. The only item which may be perhaps omitted in your English return for income tax is the interest allowed by the Bank of Scotland on your Bank account.

The Deeds completing your title to the house No 13 Great Stuart Street, have just been got from the record, and are deposited in our safe subject to your instructions. We shall not trouble you with the account of the small expence incurred in registration etc, till your return to Edinburgh.

I am Dear Sir Yours very faithfully
J. Gibson
