Jany 20th 1859

H. F. Talbot, Esqre

Sir,

I am in receipt of your favour. and beg to Say in reply that the matter of the plate having been settled in London by Mr Shadbott I have forwarded him your note and have no doubt you will hear from him soon –

With respect to presenting you with half a dozen Copies of the Journal and plate – that I shall be very happy to do whether the patent right be yours or Pretsch’s, and beg you will accept of them. –

I am sure Mr Shadbott would feel much pleased, whenever your inclination and leisure will permit your using your pen for the instruction of the world in the Scientific branches of the photographic art, to be favoured with any thing your mind may dictate as useful and interesting to those less gifted than yourself.

I am sure the Conductors of this Journal will be glad to be honoured with your communications at any time –

As my object in giving the plate you write about is purely to serve photography as a Science (and which in this instance I am doing at a large outlay) your wish or observation in your note in that respect is fully met –

Yrs obedtly
Henry Greenwood
