Nov. 1 / 58
Sir
I am commanded by H.R.H. the Prince Consort, in reply to your letter of the 20th Oct. addressed to Sir C. Phipps, to say that he has watched with the deepest interest the progress of your improvements in an Art which is destined to be of so much service to the world, & he was most anxious to obtain some specimens of the result, however imperfect, of your experiments in this new mode of printing up to this time –
He eagerly accepts therefore, & with many thanks, the kind offer you have made to send him some specimens of what you have so far succeeded in accomplishing. –
They may be addressed to me at Windsor Castle –
I have the honour to be Sir Yr most Obedt Servt
C Grey.
