Sir,

Replying to your favor of yesterday, we beg to acquaint you that we have made enquiry at the Globe Insurance Office and find they would grant an Annuity of the description you mention at the rate of £5.11– pr Cent Interest, consequently the sum of £725– would purchase an Annuity of £40.4.9 pr annum.

We shall pay over the proceeds of your Mexican Mine Shares to the Chippenham Bank as desired, but we beg to add that we apprehend it will be some little time yet; as before we receive the money we shall have to send another paper for your signature, which we have not yet got from the Office.

We have the honor to be Sir, your most ob. Servants
Hammersley & Co

We conclude you are aware that the Government has discontinued granting Annuities.W. H. F. Talbot Esq
