We are favored with your letter <1> of yesterday’s date desiring us to stop payments of a Bank note for £5 – No 38878 –
In reply we beg to acquaint you that in order to do so, it is indispensable that we should be furnished with the date as well as the number.
We are fearful that in a note of such small value, there would be very little chance of tracing the circulation, as it would probably be some time before it is returned to the Bank,
