H. Fox Talbot Esq

Dear Sir

It is very difficult to give a charge inclusive of corrections as in all original works they vary much

We can but say that we will charge you some what less than the average cost of the sheets we have already presented for you

We find that from our “proof register” that the sheets of were sent out many times & the compositor states that this was necessitated by there being corrections each time the sheets were returned to us which required your revision

Sheet 1 –6 timesSheet 4 – 5 times
2 – 7 “ 5 – 3 times
3 – 4 “

We decidely think that where an author takes great care in the preparation of his MS. it should result in a saving of expense

We were not aware that the corrections were caused by any want of care on the part of our work people or certainly we should not have changed them. If you have the proofs showing this fact I will forward them We will endeavour to <assess?> them & make an allowance to you for the same

We are Sir
Your obedt Serts

Harrison & Sons
