Whorlton Sept. 7. 1860.
My dear Sir,
I must apologize for not having written sooner in reply to your last letter, but I have been very busy during the last few days – I shall be very glad to see Charles during next Wednesday, or as soon after as he can come – if he comes by the coach, he should go to Penrith on Wednesday, & sleep there, and come by the coach to Barnard Castle on Thursday – this involves I believe an early start from Penrith at ½ past 6. but I don’t think that he minds getting up early. If you wish him to have his poney back with him, I can take charge of it for him again – I have made up my account for the past half year.
Half year’s board & tuition 75ּ 0ּ 0
Poney – 13 weeks at 15s 9ּ 0ּ 0
Book – omitted in last acct 18ּ 0
other expences, including
Railway Fare to Cumberland 4ּ17ּ 0
90ּ 0ּ 0
I am in great hopes that we are going to have finer weather, as the barometer has been steadily rising for some days.
Believe me, dear Sir, Your’s faithfully
A. W. Headlam
