Whorlton.
April 9 1860.
My dear Sir.
I have just received your letter with the cheque inclosed <sic>. The pony seems to suit Charles very well, & he enjoys his rides apparently – it also goes well in harness, and he has had some practice in driving, which is very good for him – We have had a few fine days, but the winter seems unwilling to leave us this year, as we have had a cover of Snow this morning –
Charles is getting on I think very fairly – he is not very quick in Mathematics, but I think that he makes his ground sure, as he goes on – He does composition very fairly indeed –
I have now made arrangements which will keep me at home all the summer, so that Charles can remain as long as you wish –
Believe me, dear Sir, Your’s <sic> very sincerely
