Dear Mr Talbot
I assure you I consider it very unlucky considering how seldom we leave home that we should be engaged at the time you propose coming to us, we unfortunately promised some time ago to go to Ld Stourtons, <1> which is past half way between us & Borobridge, on Tuesday next for a couple of days. If it happens that you have any other visits to make in this neighborhood & could come to us on Friday, we shall be home on that day & very happy to receive you – Will you write a line & tell me if we may hope for this pleasure? I doubt not you have made a very agreeable Tour – Mr Herbert <2> begs his Compts to you
& I remain very truly Yrs
L E D Herbert
