1. Royal Society of London. WHFT was elected a FRS on 10 March 1831. John George Children, Secretary of the Royal Society, wrote to him as Henry Fox Talbot on 17 March 1831. [See Doc. No: 02151]. WHFT did not have a PhD at this time. However, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Edinburgh University on 1 April 1863. The speech by James Muirhead, Professor of Civil Law, presenting him with the degree outlined his 'contributions to knowledge' and was reported in the Edinburgh Evening Courant, no. 23801, 2 April 1863, p. 5.
