Dear Sir
I will look for a positive & negative specimen of the Calotype, <1> & hope I may be able to find some tolerably good ones but I fear they will not be as desired, corresponding specimens but may represent different subjects. I shall also be able to offer a view of this house done on glass, but not by myself the process is the same as the Calotype except in introducing a coat of albumen.<2>
I remain Yours very truly

Notes:
1. The developed calotype was typically used for making negatives in a camera, where its greater complexity was justified by shorter exposure times. It could be used to make prints (much like modern developed prints) but the process was more demanding and the tones less satisfying to WHFT. See also Doc. No: 06558.
3. WHFT's reasoning was that the specific chemistry or base support was less important than the concept of a developed latent image, which he felt that he had introduced.
3. On blank part of sheet in another hand.
