Valetta.
March 15
1846.
My dear Sir,
I have recieved [sic] through a Merchant here my 100 Sheets of Paper and hasten to acknowledge them: I trust that you have ere this recieved [sic] my proofs. Since recieving [sic] my new paper I have gone to work again very successfully, but the weather has lately been not very propitious.
With respect to vegetation, great difficulty exists; as in this place a calm day appears to be an unknown thing, at least such has been the case for 4 months, and it is therefore almost impossible to do any plants, especially Palm trees.
I am giving Mr Bridges <1> every instruction as you requested, tomorrow we go to St Pauls bay, a highly interesting locale.
I trust to do a good deal now that I am supplied with “materiel”.
I am sorry to say that our dear Invalid <2> has become very weak, but trust it may yet please God to restore her.
With united kind regards, I am yours very truly
Calvert R. Jones.
