My dear Sir,

I have transmitted your additions to Mess Balfour for printing.

I have given in the papers themselves on Friday last. You will probably have to <assess?> in what form the addition to the paper on parallels should be made. I have sent it with the paper to Messr Balfour –

The ordinary Demonstration of your last property would run thus

<0?ⁿ> = a^u/b^<n?> + b^u/y^<n?> by the well known theorem differential: & a³:b³::n^<?>:y^<?>

<Joquanis?> points but this does let θ without further differentiation distinguish whether the <term?> is a max or a min^m (Tho’ the nature of the case determines it) does your demonstration?
