My dear Sir,

I read your paper at the Royal Society on Monday – as yet I cannot stumble on any demonstration of the theorem. But whether any exist or not to the extent of [illegible] a prime no, your demonstration is so simple & self contained that it ought to be printed – The introduction might possibly have a word or two added to the effect that several cases have been proved, by Lamé & others (see Lionville’s Journal)
