Dear Talbot
No step will be taken respecting next year’s Sheriffs till November & again afterwards in february – you may depend upon my best endeavors to save you this year, tho’ your reason however just in itself, is not one which could be stated in the Court of Exchequer or at the P. Council –
If Parlt is not sitting (I hope it never will again at that time) I shall myself attend the meeting at Bristol <2> & invite some of the Philosophers to Bowood. <3>
I received your letter in Ireland, but we are now as you will perceive from the date of this letter on our route homewards – I am very glad to hear we are to see your mother <4> so soon –
Yours sincerely
Lansdowne
