3 Clarges Street
Octr 3, 1839
Dear Talbot,
I am much obliged to you for your congratulations, and still more for your present, which I found awaiting me here when I returned from Windsor. I have put Hermes <1> into my pocket and shall try to learn what he has to say during the intervals of business at the War-Office to day or to morrow. If it is as ingenious as the first number, it will give me some very pleasant hours.
Ever yours truly
R B Macaulay
