Dear Sir
I feel I am acting very boldly in writing to you. – however I have been actuated to do so thro’ some feeling that in your appointing a Clergyman to the Vicarage of Laycock you would look around you for a suitable man & that therefore one unknown to you might be permitted to bring himself under your notice.
I am a Graduate, in full orders, unmarried, thirty years of age & since my ordination I have had much experience in every particular of my profession. I have been a fellow labourer here for some time with the Revd W. M. Falloon to whom I refer you & if needs be – I can supply other & abundant testimony to my usefulness &c &c
I am Dear Sir Your obt st.
