Seend Wilts.
Sept 19 / 1857 –
H. F. Talbot, Esq.
Honord Sir
I am in receipt of the Box of Iron-stones, for which I thank you. – I have much pleasure in stating that in my humble judgment they are very excellent samples and of good percentage; about 40 to 46. – I hope early next week to have the pleasure of a few hours passed in your vicinity; and should much like to inspect the ground whence they were taken from. – I purpose, (if I can leave the Works,) on Monday or Tuesday next, in the afternoon, driving over to the Abbey, with my family, to view the Ruins, and will avail myself of your kind permission, &c.
I am, Hond Sir, Your Obedt Servt –
John May
