Dear Sir
In reply to your note received this morning I shall be very glad if you can make it convenient soon to favor me with a call to see what I have in the way of photographic portraiture
Perhaps afterwards you might arrange to give me an hour some morning before your time of starting for the country. I do not require that the day be a very bright one if it is the morning light. After 4 o’clock at this season of the year, or indeed at almost any season the sitting is too much prolonged to do justice to the sitter.
I am very anxious to do you justice in the proposed sitting and hope to produce such a portrait that will at least bear comparison with any I have yet produced.
The little thing with the light of the magnesium wire was very well so far as the experiment went, but many more experiments would have to be undertaken before we could make the pictures presentable as portraits.
I am Dear Sir Yours very truly
John Moffat
