My dear Mr Talbot,
I went over to Clifton yesterday and so could not acknowledge your check <sic> before, which I now do with thanks.
I found my mother much better, but she has not yet been able to leave her room, and only gets up for a few hours a day. It seems to be quite true that Uncle Kit is going to be made a peer, as one of his companions in his Eastern trip has returned to come forward for the county of Glamorgan –
Yours truly
Edward P. Nicholl
