Lanelay <1>
Sep 20.
My dear Henry
Many thanks for your present. I hope it will be as useful as it promises. I feel very much the want of a reminder for names I forget my ancient learning terribly, altho I find my reputation is considerable as a botanist in the neighborhood of Rome; your present will prevent my disgracing myself I hope.
Our fine weather is departing I think – I must not grumble for the rain is wanted & I have been very fortunate in having had so much dry to enjoy my visit here.
Pray give my kindest remembrances to Mrs Talbot <2> & do not let my Goddaughter <3> be quite ignorant of my existance [sic] & the interest I take in her well-being
Believe me my dear Henry Your affte Cousin
Jane H Nicholl
