Montague House Worthing
12 September 1871
My dear Sir,
I am very sorry to say that amid the annoyances of changing lodgings I mislaid your last letter; I have no doubt it is mixed up with the very copious bundles of papers which my Assyrian work compels me to carry about wherever I go, but all my endeavours to find it have been fruitless. I only remember your question about nu bila which was probably an error on my part, but without intention you may be sure. In such a very miscellaneous work as I am employed about, and with a failing memory, I fear I have many such <laches?> to answer for, but I can only plead <peceavi?> With the increasing symptoms of weakness oppressing me, I fancy I see before me the conclusion of letter N as the conclusion of my work. My consolation is that I shall leave my materials in such order, that my successor, whoever he may be will be able to complete my work
I am My dear Sir Yours faithfully
Edwin Norris
