Michael’s Grove

My dear Sir
I shall post with this the sheets pp 408–480; much obliged for the glossary, which I know I shall find useful. I fear that Rawlinson <1> will be too much occupied with his Indian Councillorship to do much, which I am aggrieved at, for he trusts his excellent memory too much, like poor Hincks, <2> and will leave nothing behind him. Having a bad memory myself, I put every thing on record relating to cuneiforms, and any one hereafter who may take the trouble will be able to continue my work, though not without some trouble, for my materials are necessarily very much embrouillées, <3> overrun with alteration and interpolations. Smith <4> is working hard with Vol. III and beginning a Vol. IV.
Yours very faithfully
Edwin Norris
