I am greatly obliged to you for the gift of your valuable etymological book, <1> As yet I have not been able to examine it fully, but every page which I open abounds with useful and interesting matter. Your articles upon Syncope – [illegible] July and August – Devil, are peculiarly curious. I am glad to find that the Calendars of the Exchequer have been open to you.
