Giacché questi ordini contrari cosi desiderati non arrivano mai, eccoci un’altra lettera da Genova, che mi faccio la solita premura di spedirci. A forza di aspettare voglio credere che una volta poi verrà il momento che V.S. penserà di ritornare a Londra. Posso assicurarla senza affettazione ch’io non ne posso più. Ora nemmeno il pensiero ch’Ella si diverta è atto a scemare il mio dispiacere per una assenza che non finisce più. Scusi, o Signore, questa franca esposizione che non parte che da una vera gratitudine ed attaccamento che gli professa con tutto il rispetto

My Esteemed Lord

As these much-desired orders to the contrary never seem to arrive: here is another letter from Genoa which I send you with the usual haste. I have waited so long that I wish to believe the time will come when your Lordship decides to return to London. I can assure you without affectation that I can take no more. Now not even the thought that you are enjoying yourself is enough to lessen my sorrow over an absence which knows no end. Forgive me this frank exposition Sir but it takes its root in nothing less than the true gratitude and affection which I respectfully profess for you.
