Mio Signore

Londra

30 Maggio 1829

Basta ora è finito e arriveranno a Lacock in buon ordine.

Translation:

London

May 30th 1829

My Lord

I have followed your orders and your books and herbariums have been packed properly and without risk. The idea of sending them with the packer was dismissed since this man is not made for packing books, and much less plants. Enough, now it is finished and they will arrive at Lacock in good shape.

I discovered that I forgot to include the nightcap and the toothbrush. I ask your forgiveness and will send them with the coach this evening. May God preserve you and I am honoured to be

Your Most Illustrious Lordship’s
Most Humble and Obedient Servant

Gio Percy

P.S. I believe Your Lordship must have taken the cap since it is not in your bed and I therefore believe it would be pointless to send you another
