Dear Mlle,

The arrangement that we signed contains the following proviso... that if two French jurisconsults one of which I will choose, are not in agreement that I will be exempt from all responsibility towards the third party with whom Mr de Bassano will work, and that the guarantees will be good and sufficient in accordance with French laws, this arrangement will be null and void.

Upon my arrival in Paris, I will be looking to put myself into contact with a good jurisconsult, whose knowledge will undoubtedly be useful and enlightening. I believe that I am leaving for Paris in a week. We are waiting to see Horatia tomorrow; she has spent a couple of days in London.

Always yours

H.F.Talbot

It would be most agreeable to make the acquaintance of M. de Mirbel, who must be very old, as we have been talking about him for such a long time in Botany. I only saw the Comet once.
