Chère Mlle A
I propose to commence my Spanish tour tomorrow. I have engaged a voiturier Louis by name. My address will be
Poste Restante
Vittoria
I do not wish many letters to be written to that address because I think it very doubtful if they will safely reach their destination, but I should like one or two letters from some of the family just to let me know how you are all going on. I propose to leave Vittoria on my return on the 19th July therefore do not write to that address later than the 14th perhaps not later than the 13th
Yesterday I was in the Basque Country – An old woman was my guide – she spoke a little French. I knew 2 Basque words
Iguzquia, the Sun
Ilarquia, the Moon
these I have long known but scarcely believed them to be genuine, they are so strange Yesterday I asked my old woman, the Basque for Sun & Moon, & I was delighted to hear Iguzquia and Ilarquia come out of her mouth – I quickly attained the true pronunciation to her complete satisfaction – I am just going to see Biarritz the carriage is waiting, so adieu
Yours afftely

I have written 3 letters from Bayonne and Cambo to Constance Ela & Rosamond, I shope all have been received –
