Lacock
20 Septr 1830.
Sir
I recd your directions on Tuesday last and went immediately to the Abbey & found Banks <1> with four other Masons and three Labourers getting on with the Walls and Window Jambs and taking down the old Wall, and this they have continued to do every day since. Up to Saturday Evening they were 7 Feet above the floor of the South Gallery. <2> Before your Letter reached me I had been round your district twice and have been again this Morning & found all quite ready with their deposits.
I am Sir
Your very Obedient Servant
Philip Phelps.
