I beg to apologize for troubling you but when I received your last letter May 15th 50 you stated that Mrs Thomas Gaisford <1> was expected home from abroad in July and then you would be kind enough to shew her my letter I sent you dated May 14th 1850 perhaps you will do me the favor of sending the letter and the account to her viz £6.16.6

1. Henrietta Horatia Maria Gaisford, née Feilding (1810-1851), WHFT's half-sister. She had died from complications of childbirth a few days before this letter, on 9 August.
2. Although this signature is quite indistinct, the identity is clarified by WHFT's annotation of 'Pinch' on the envelope. There was a James Pinch, architect, at this address in the Bath Post Office Directory and presumably Charles was a brother or other relative.
