10 Decr 1841W H F. Talbot Esq
We have the pleasure of transmitting herewith your Patent <1> for England which passed the Great Seal on the 9th day of December and take the liberty of informing you that the Specification thereof will become due on the 9th day of June next.
We take this opportunity of impressing upon you the necessity of taking every possible care in drawing up your Specification, as on this Document will depend the security of your Patent.
We shall be happy to give you every advice and assistance in preparing your Specification, and in making any Drawings which may be necessary to illustrate the Invention, as well as in every other matter relating to Patents in England, Scotland, and Ireland, – and also in Foreign Countries. –
We also beg to inform you that we have a correct General List of all Patents which have been granted from the year 1690, to the present time, with references shewing where the Drawings & Specifications may be seen. This List is open for inspection at all times from the hours of 10 to 4, and is an object of great importance to those who are about to take out Patents, since it enables them to ascertain what has been done, & prevents the risk of interfering with the Inventions of other Patentees.
Your obedient Servants,
Poole & CarpmaelP S – Should you require any Foreign Patents we shall be obliged by your instructions as early as possible in order that we may apply for them previous to the enrolment of your specification
