In reply to your Letter, I have to inform you that all possible Enquiry shall be instituted respecting the Letter that you state to be missing, and to contain a 5£ note, <1> Payment of which I should advise Mr Lacock to stop immediately – perhaps you can also send me the Date of the note in question –
When I have any Communication to make, you shall not fail to hear from me immediately on the subject.
I have ascertained that the note was not found in possession of the man whose case you have seen in the Papers. You do not state into what Office the Latter was put, nor when.
