[on mourning paper]

Septr 9th 1864.

Dear Sir.

As you told me you were going to be absent and as business too was taking me from home – I thought there would be no immediate hurry for the information you have asked for –

Moreover I wished to see my Solicitor – on the subject merely to know if there was any thing in such an arrangement that would militate against the Law of Apprenticeship – However this being the period when Lawyers indulge in holidays, I have not had the advantage of his advice.

As articles of agreement will have to be prepared we need not perhaps enter into minutiæ now –

The terms I would propose are as follows –

£150· upon signing Articles of Indenture

50· on the 1st of Jany 1866 –

100· on the 1st of Jany – 1867.

Should he ^yr Son leave before Jany. 1st 1866 – I shall in that case forego the £50· so in like manner the £100· should he leave before Jany. 1st 1867. Hoping the above may meet your views –

I am dear Sir Your’s [sic] truly
Jno Prichard.

P. S. Has Mr Charles left yet for London? –

H. F. Talbot Esqr
