My dear Sir/

I have to thank you very much for your kindness in forwarding Nos 1 and 3 of your Assyrian Glossary, and shall be glad to receive No 2 when you can conveniently do so. – I am just now reading thro’ the long Tiglath Pilesar Inscriptions in Vol. 1 of the Brit. Mus. “Inscriptions” and shall no doubt derive much assistance from your work. – I had the pleasure of reading your paper last night to the Bibl. Archæol. Society – and a very interesting one it is. A short discussion ensued at its close, one speaker seeming to think that you had stated somewhat too broadly that the Assyrian Hebrews derived their notions abt the Immortality of the soul from Assyria; two others, making remarks in addition to what you say about the number “seven”, quoting other passages of SS, and instances from Classical Authors – and all expressing a hope that you wd publish the Cuneiform texts from wh you quote with references. –

I am your’s sincerely & obliged
J. M. Rodwell
