My dear Sir
Your favor <1> of the 12th Instant arrived here in my absence from home and it was only last Night that I returned or you should have had an earlier reply.
It appears to me that your Suggestion of an early Canvas of the New Voters would be very desirable and I shall be most happy in rendering you all the Assistance I possibly can to ensure full Success – Before this can be well done it will be necessary to obtain as correct a List as may be of the New Voters and then our Canvas would be proceeding with some accuracy, I expect to be in Chippenham <2> in a few Days and I think it would be very desirable to obtain through Mr Michell & Mr Wilmot <3> such a List as I have been alluding to but of course I will not name this to either of those Gentlemen without hearing first from you. I feel much obliged for your very friendly Attentions and remain
Dear Sir Yours very truly
