Sir!

I hope You will kindly excuse that I ask You a favour.

Yours valuable papers on assyrian subjects are not in Copenhagan, we don’t have the Transactions of the Royal Society of Literature and the Journal of sacred litterature –

I am just now publishing in Danish A. historie of Asea and Egypt according to cuneiform and hieroglyphic monuments which I give in the text with transcriptions and translation. I am now in printing the literature and I should like very much to make the citation of yours very valuable translations and commentaries*, that my readers could find it. (It is used that <when?> a foreign book is quoted in a scientific danish work, that is bought by the Library). We have here The Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society of course.

I will be very much obliged to You if You would send me the list filled up. – I suppose You have the Transactions of the Royal Society of Literature and the Journal of Sacred Literature at the hand. If not I beg You to excuse my liberty.

It would be me a pleasure If You would receive a copy of my book which will be published firstly in danish and afterwards in french. That will be a book 700 pages in octavo

I regret that I never during any of my seven visits to England <sic>

I remain, Sir, with the highest consideration
Yours most obedient servant

Valdemar Schmidt
