Castle Combe <1>
Septr 23d 1831
Dear Talbot,
Having been disappointed in my finding you at Lacock yesterday, and not being quite confident whether I was fully authorised by you to sign your name to the Requisition for a County Meeting, I send you a Copy <2> with some (but not all) the names already attached, begging you to return it to me with your’s, or what would be better to call at Benett’s 19. Albemarle Street, and leave word with him to add you name to the Copy he has, and which he is <missing text> <3> forward to Methuen <4> (at Brighton I believe) by tomorrow’s post. I hope you will be able to attend, but if not, as I think you told me, Your signature will be yet the more desirable to the Requisition that it may influence others to attend in your place –
Believe me, ever your’s sincerely
