65 Upper Berkley Street
Dear Sir/
The person I mentioned to you, is Dr Mariano La Gasca <1> No 25 Camden Place Camden town he was director General of the Botanl Gardens at Madrid, and is, I am assured, one of the first Horticulturists in Europe, besides possessing information and the means of procuring exotics from any part of the world, and particularly Spanish America.
A friend of mine Mr Barry is on the eve of his departure for <St Luca?> and will readily admit your commission for roots &c – but says (to prevent waste of your money & his time) he will confidently follow the directions of La Gasca, for you, and has no doubt in this manner of completing your wishes most satisfactorily to you & himself –
I have expressed your requests to our friend who is already on his way to Zante, and another will shortly depart, who shall also have a copy of your memorandum. It will afford me much satisfaction should success attend my furtherance of your wishes.
I am
My dear Sir
Yours with truth
W.H.Sharp.
